In mid-October Natalie and I made a trip out to the Bay Area for her uncle’s wedding. I hadn’t set foot in the northwestern part of the US since we moved back east from Lake Tahoe four years ago. There was a lot of catching up to do.
First on the list, following the wedding and family time in the Bay Area, was visiting friends who had, relatively recently, made their home in Portland, Ore. It was a promise I was excited to fulfill. Our time there was brief — about 48 hours — but with the excellent guidance of Mr. Dennis Lui, we made the most of it.
Portland, based on reputation, has a lot to offer a couple of people like us (I won’t try to affix a label). And in reality it delivered, both in substance and experience: Great coffee (Case Study), great pizza (Dove Vivi), great beer (Hair of the Dog) and great company (Dennis and Alana).
